Increasing the security of a building without replacing the cylinders already on the doors: the case of UIMM Savoie Training Centers in France
INFO ABOUT THE PROJECT
Maximum flexibility of access control for the UIMM Savoie Training Centre in France
Location: Savoie, France
Faced with its ageing premises, the UIMM Savoie Training Centres was completely demolished and then rebuilt. Inaugurated on 23 February 2023, the new UIMM Savoie Training Centres for Metal Professions is designed to accommodate 350 apprentices, 3,000 trainees and 50 full-time employees. It also has a turnover of 5 million euros and a training service for companies in a context where the need for qualified personnel is growing. For the CFAI - Centre de Formation des Apprentis de l'Industrie - the demolition and complete reconstruction of the building was an opportunity to rethink completely the management and the security of access.

Requests

This project to manage and secure access was born out of an observation: by nature, the UIMM Savoie Training Centres is a place where apprentices, trainers, employees following training and administrative staff meet throughout the day and at different times. Depending on their status - employees of the centre or trainees - these people do not all have the same access rights to the rooms, offices, workshop, warehouses and storage areas, etc. Moreover, the management of mechanical keys was becoming a real problem for the customer. Key were lost too often and had to be duplicated in doubles, triples or quadruples, which could also be lost. The management of the keys pool was becoming a nightmare and costs were constantly increasing. According to Mr Laurent Morello, current head of training at the UIMM Savoie Training Centres: "the keys were 'wandering' around and there a was a lot of thefts. The problem of securing access was not solved as we’d like to". It was in this context that ISEO France was called upon and the ISEO solution was deployed.

Our contribution

For this reconstruction project, the environment choose V364 software by ISEO Connected range, because it offers more flexibility and finesse in assigning access rights. With V364 the administration of a large number of cylinders and users is simplified and also it is possible for UIMM to keep the cylinders already used in combination with ARGO software. This has been a real plus for the customer. UIMM Savoie Training Centre is equipped with approximately one hundred LIBRA electronic cylinders, twenty ARIES electronic trims and ten STYLOS access readers installed on lifts, gates and doors.
